After a great night sleep, our choices were to rest or to shop...hmmmmmmmmmmm...
At first Jayne was unsure about shopping, until she was introduced to the bookstore! While shopping at the bookstore, she found what she liked and what she did not like...she may be a wee bit stubborn (did I mention that Jayne is a perfect fit for us?!*). Jayne decided on some workbooks...her dedication to working on these books, or studying as she calls it, is very impressive and mirrors that of Luke's...we all know how long Luke can work on a task or a list or studying! She also picked a Barbie story book...while reading it she noted the prince in the book is ba ba...we will get her eyes checked upon our return to the states...ha!
New shoes were on her and ba ba's lists. Ba ba's by choice, Jayne's by need. Ba ba found MANY flashy shoes that he liked. He decided to try on some purple and gold tennis shoes (Go Vikes in good times and bad). The worker understands he needs a US 11, so she brings out a US 8.5. Ba ba says, "No, US 11." She says, "8.5 is the biggest we have!" She insists ba ba try them on despite the size issue. When he has them on, she cheers as if a perfect fit. Not so much, so ba ba is now on a shoe hunt for the biggest shoes China has ever sold!
Jayne's hunt, on the other hand, is over. She found and fell in love with a pair of brown fashion boots WITH fur and ties and sparkles. Ma ma tried to distract her to something more "our" taste, but did I mention the stubborn trait? Jayne tried on the fashion boots and for the first time she could have cared less about her shoes that she was wearing on gotcha day...in fact, she put the fashion boots on and boxed up her old shoes! SOLD! Kind of like those light up shoes I said I would never buy for the boys...when they get so excited about their choice, it is hard to not fall in love with them too! With her toes dancing in her new fashion boots, I was able to convince her on a second pair of shoes more "our" style :)
Jayne did have her doctors appointment today. The doctor was very nice, and let us know after he looked at her ears that she is going to be very smart. Our guide explained that the type of earwax a person has tells them how smart they are. Ba ba concluded that after looking at his own earwax he is brilliant!
Two near death experiences today...ma ma was darn near run over crossing the street going to the flea market...not a surprise to anyone who understands China's traffic rules (or lack there of). Also, I was able to avoid the squatty potty the last time we were in China, but when you have a 5 year old this is not possible. I will never be the same after the public bathroom experience at the flea market.
Kids no worries, Jayne LOVES McDonalds. She had chicken nuggets, fries and Sprite for lunch...yummmmmmmm!
Off to rescue ba ba from entertaining Jayne while I type. Our rep told us that women from the Jiangxi province are known as spicy...I believe this translates to spunky, and I also believe this rumor may be true! LOVE IT!
Oh my gosh what a fun day! I think you should also get some fancy shoes for running :)Looking forward to meeting Jayne. I am so glad everything is going so well.
